Menu For Hope 6

It is always nice to be able to take something that I do mostly for personal enjoyment (see: start a food blog) and use that to actually help those in need. That is why I am glad to be participating in Chez Pim’s Menu For Hope 6, an annual rallying of the food and wine blogging community to raise money for worthy causes.

This year, Menu for Hope is once again joining in support of the UN World Food Programme, especially highlighting the new initiative Purchase for Progress (P4P).  P4P enables smallholder and low-income farmers to supply food to WFP’s global operation, helping farmers improves their practices and putting more cash directly into their pockets in return for their crops.

Menu For Hope allows you to bid on some fantastic food and wine related goodies, donated by bloggers and sponsors worldwide, with each $10 donation giving you a chance to win the particular item that you bid on. The complete list of bid items can be found here.

My donation this year consists of a 4-pack of some tasty red wines from my personal collection, including one bottle of each of the following:

2000 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

 2004 Ruffino Modus

1999 Domaine Combier Crozes-Hermitage Clos Des Grives

2007 Bodega Teso La Monja Almirez Toro (not pictured)

Even if that particular basket of goodies doesn’t entice you, I’m sure there are plenty of bid items that you will dig. In addition to myself, Atlanta’s own Running With Tweezers has also donated a badass ATL inspired gift basket. So dig deep, give back, and hopefully get some cool stuff!

To Donate and Enter the Menu for Hope Raffle

Here’s what you need to do:

 1. Choose a bid item or bid items of your choice from our Menu for Hope main bid item list. My wine basket is UE40.

 2. Go to the donation site at Firstgiving and make a donation.

 3. Please specify which bid item you’d like in the ‘Personal Message’ section in the donation form when confirming your donation. You must write-in how many tickets per bid item, and please use the bid item code. Each $10 you donate will give you one raffle ticket toward a bid item of your choice. For example, a donation of $50 can be 2 tickets for EU01 and 3 tickets for EU02 – 2xEU01, 3xEU02.

 4. If your company matches your charity donation, please check the box and fill in the information so we could claim the corporate match.

 5. Please check the box to allow us to see your email address so that we can contact you in case you win. Your email address will not be shared with anyone.

Check back on Chez Pim on Monday, January 18  for the results of the raffle!

Thanks! I’m sure they are still taking donations, but I know the raffle/prizes finished already :-( if you go to the giving website I’m sure they’ll take your donation though!
